Keeping the Peace

When you are at home, you probably are hoping to have some peace and quiet. Unfortunately, this is not an option for everyone. There are many neighborhoods that have noise levels that are going to disturb your peace, even at night. There is also the problem of noise that is generated by your home. Maybe you have noisy pipes, old, rackety appliances, or other things that make it difficult to find that peace you are looking for. Fortunately, there are some things that you can do as a homeowner to alleviate the problem.

Noises that come in from the outside will take the same path as cold air does in the winter. Your insulation does not only block heat loss, but it also blocks sound, so it is possible to find the reasons for issues using thermal imaging. If there is missing insulation, or if there are issues with your double-pane windows, you will not only feel the cold temperatures more keenly, you will also hear noises from the outside better.

Insulating your pipes in your home can make it so they are less noisy, but when it comes to old appliances, you will probably either need to replace or repair them.
