Finding Hot Joints

One common problem in electrical systems, especially in a commercial or industrial setting is a hot joint. This happens when there is an electrical connection that is loose or deteriorating, causing it to generate more heat than normal. This could happen either in your electrical system or in an appliance and could be due to pests interfering with the wires or from deterioration over time. While it is not always dangerous, it could become a fire hazard.

Using thermal imaging will let you detect hot joints and deal with them. It will let you pinpoint the location of the problem with high accuracy, especially if the tool is in the hands of a trained professional.

Detecting hot joints early will save you a lot of trouble later on since the problem usually gets worse over time. The problem is usually easier to detect when the circuits are under load since the joints will get hotter the more power runs through them.
