A Life-Saving Receptacle

If you have electrical receptacles in any wet areas of your business, are they GFCI receptacles? GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) receptacles are made to cut the power as soon as an unbalanced current is detected, and this could save lives. This is the reason why they are vital near sinks and other sources of water. They have been around for several decades, but this doesn’t mean that you will find them in every older building. Having your receptacles replaced might cost you a bit, but the protection they offer is definitely worth it.

If you do have these receptacles installed, you should ensure that they are tested frequently to see that they work as intended. This is why there is a test and reset button on the receptacle. When you push the test button, the power should immediately be cut off. By having something plugged into the receptacle you can quickly see if the receptacle works as intended. If not, you should have it replaced as soon as possible.
