Why is the Location of your HVAC Important?

When talking about your HVAC unit for your building, why is its location so important? When purchasing a building, there may seem to be more pressing matters than this, but consider a couple of reasons why this is important.

First of all, if your HVAC unit is difficult to access, then repairing it may become problematic. For instance, in older buildings especially, sometimes they would actually assemble a heating unit right in the basement because it wouldn’t fit otherwise. So how would servicing or replacing this unit go? More importantly – how much would it cost?

Another scenario is an HVAC unit or air handler on a roof. If your HVAC contractor has to climb 10 flights of stairs or rent a bucket truck to reach your HVAC units, then it will definitely be more expensive to fix.

These are not “end of the world” type issues, but they are points that should definitely be considered when buying a building.
