Commercial Buildings and The Winter

Here in Ohio, we have no problem with the winter. We are used to the cold – and our buildings are made to handle it. But what are some things you can do to help your building through the winter and reduce your liability as a building owner? Here are a few points:

  1. Consider hiring a contractor for snow removal. While some building owners like to do it themselves, contractors are usually able to get to it faster, and that reduces the risk of a problem.
  2. Keep emergency exits clear of snow in case of emergency.
  3. Have an HVAC company check your heating units before it starts to get too cold.
  4. Consider having a thermal image inspection to reduce energy costs
